For several years now, converting existing office buildings, hospitals, schools and shops into affordable housing seems to have become a real trend. Our country thus gained 12.5 thousand homes. About 46% of all 'transformation homes' were created from existing office buildings. Another proportion are new homes created by converted shops, clinics, churches or school buildings.
Supply and demand
A large number of office buildings are vacant in the Netherlands. Because the supply of offices exceeds demand and because these buildings often no longer meet the modern requirements and wishes of companies. The transformation of offices to the 'new way of working' is of our time. It seems that the office is increasingly taking on the function of a clubhouse where colleagues come to meet to work together. The result? Many premises that are vacant for long periods and almost impossible to rent out or sell.
Keijsers Interiors
Keijsers Interiors uses custom-made furniture to transform offices and business premises into fully-fledged, modern and contemporary living spaces for different target groups. Depending on the wishes of the property owner, we come up with efficient and purposeful custom-made solutions.
For example, we recently helped build the Aparthotel Cityden in Amsterdam West; these long-stay flat hotels are a fast-growing segment within the hotel industry in the Netherlands. Yays Apartments in Amsterdam Entrepothaven is another great example of co-creation and this trend. These projects call for creative and smart solutions. Together with the architect and the agencies involved, we look at the possibilities and arrive at successful transformations partly thanks to our KPS system. An automated industrial process, based on experience, craftsmanship and modern insights. This standardisation ensures efficiency and error reduction.
There are plenty of challenges and opportunities. We have developed smart processes and applications that contribute to the rapid realisation of interior construction of such transformation projects. The added value of an established interior builder and fast project design is a strong combination here.
