Sustainability
Sustainability is not a standalone initiative at Keijsers, but a fundamental part of how we do business. Our sustainability principles are embedded in both our production processes and our logistical and organizational choices.
Responsible materials
We choose our raw materials consciously, with attention to origin and environmental impact.
FSC- and PEFC-certified materials
We work with FSC- and/or PEFC-certified wood, sourced from responsibly managed forests.
Guaranteed origin from sustainably managed forests
Thanks to this certification, the origin of our material is traceable back to the forest of origin, so that every piece of wood contributes to preservation rather than deforestation.
Measuring impact per material and per project
In our calculations, we map out the shadow costs and the Environmental Cost Indicator (ECI) of materials. This allows us to objectively track and specifically reduce the ecological impact per material and per project.
Smart use of raw materials
Advanced engineering & software
Before a single panel is cut, our planning software calculates the optimal layout for each panel. This way, every piece, whether standard or custom, is positioned as efficiently as possible in advance.
Optimal nesting of panel material
By placing parts tightly against each other instead of cutting them separately, we make use of every last piece of the panel. This nesting principle forms the basis of our production approach.
Maximum reduction of cutting and sawing waste
The result: a minimal amount of residual material per panel, less raw material consumption, and a smaller ecological footprint on every project.
Circular production
Sustainability doesn't stop for us after production. In the flows that arise after the process as well, we aim for as closed a loop as possible for material and energy.
Closed material and energy flow
Residual streams that arise during our production are reused within our own process as much as possible, among other things as an energy source. This way, we reduce our dependence on external raw materials and energy, and give residual streams a second life instead of disposing of them as waste.
Residual streams collected and processed by suppliers
Beyond our own production as well, we work together with suppliers on a closed loop. Residual streams are collected, recycled, and reintroduced into the chain. This keeps material in circulation longer and reduces the environmental impact of our process.
Together, these efforts ensure a production process in which raw materials and energy are used to their fullest. A concrete step towards a circular and sustainable way of working.
Sustainable logistics
We also consciously shape our logistics in a sustainable way, from planning to the very last kilometer to the customer.
Efficient transport
We carefully coordinate our transports so that trips are combined as much as possible and loads are optimally utilized. This way, we avoid unnecessary movements and keep the impact of our transport as low as possible.
Use of local logistics hubs
For the last stretch of the route, the so-called last mile, we make use of local logistics hubs. From there, deliveries are organized close to the final destination, which significantly reduces the distance, and therefore the impact, of that last leg.
Low-emission vehicles
It is precisely on that last stretch that emission-free or low-emission delivery is increasingly expected. By investing in low-emission vehicles, we proactively respond to this, contributing to cleaner cities and a lower ecological impact of our deliveries.
Together, these choices ensure a logistics process that is not only efficient, but also evolves alongside the growing demand for emission-free transport.
